Men's soccer opens with top 25 matchup Thursday at home

The Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team will open the 2019 season Thursday night at Titan Soccer Complex.

The Titans, who come into the contest No. 5 in the NJCAA Division I preseason poll, will host No. 19 Morton College at 8 p.m. in the season opener.

"We are excited to start the season at home in a double header with the women's team and hope for a big crowd," Eastern Florida State College men's soccer coach Oliver Twelvetrees said. "We know we are facing an excellent team that has been the top team in Illinois for the last few seasons so it will be a great test for our young team."

Morton College is coming off two straight seasons of 14 wins or more and returns two of their top three goal scorers from a year ago. Maldini Nyandoro is returning after scoring 10 goals last season.

Eastern Florida State College made it to the semifinals of the NJCAA National Tournament last season and bring back nine players from that team including All-Americans Nour Moaoui and Moussa Gueye on the defensive side of the ball. Offensively the Titans return their top two goal scorers in Schimiliguen Castin and Aedon Kyra who combined for 17 goals.
