Men's soccer team's season ends in national tournament semifinals

The Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team's run ended Friday in the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament semifinals.

The Titans finished the season 15-5-1 after a 4-2 loss to Barton Community College at Daytona State College.

Eastern Florida State got off to a fast start as Sebastian Joffre finished a cross from Troy LaRue Gonzalez three minutes into the contest.

Barton tied it up in the 26th minute but a penalty in the box led to a penalty kick four minutes before halftime and Joffre put it in the back of the net to give the Titans a 2-1 lead.

It stayed that way until the final eight minutes when Barton tied it, snapping the Titans five-game shutout streak. The Cougars would score two more goals in the four-minute span to steal the win and advance to the national championship game.

The Titans made it to the national tournament semifinals for the third time in six seasons and the 15 wins is tied for the program's best.
