Men's soccer team hosts Daytona State College in conference matchup

The Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team hosts conference foe Daytona State College on Wednesday night at Titan Soccer Complex.

The two teams have been at the top of the Region 8 standings the past couple of seasons and on Wednesday they meet once again as two of the top 20 teams in the United Soccer Association poll.

"In only the two years since the start of their program there is a great history between the two programs," Eastern Florida State College men's soccer coach Oliver Twelvetrees said. "The history and emotion of these matches has made for a really special rivalry."

The two teams are 3-3-1 with each team knocking the other out of the playoffs in consecutive seasons. This season both teams come into the contest with high-scoring offenses as the Titans are fifth in the nation in goals scored with 31 while Daytona State College is 24th with 25 goals.

Jimmy Mwanga, Schimiliguen Castin, Uziel Hernandez and Aedon Kyra each have four goals this season for the Titans. Daytona State College's Creggton Charlton has six goals this season.

"Daytona State College has a gifted team with pace and power all over the pitch. We know that we need to execute our game plan in order to be successful," Twelvetrees said. "We are excited to be back at home and are working towards another special night at Titan Soccer Complex."

Wednesday's game kicks off at 6 p.m. and admission is free.
