Men's golf team in third after first day at Dan York Memorial

The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team is in third place after the first day of the Dan York Memorial on Monday.

The Titans shot a 7-over 295 in the first round at the Marcus Pointe Golf Club in Pensacola.

Freshman Horace Pennix shot a 1-under 71 in the first round and is in fourth place overall. Teammates Micke Laurelli and Masen McKain are tied for fifth overall after shooting an even par 72.

Hugo Greisheimer finished with an 80 while Andrew Bell shot an 87.

"Two really slow starts got away from us and Hugo had two bad holes that sabotaged his round. All the right signs, just need to clean up some loose shots," Eastern Florida State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell said.

Central Alabama leads the event, shooting 1-over 289 in the first round while Southern Union is in second place.

The final round will be played Tuesday morning.
