Men's golf team places 13th at Battle at the Shores event

The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team finished 13th in the Battle at the Shores golf event in Miami Beach.

The Titans shot a 292 in the final round to finish the three rounds at Normandy Golf Club at 864.

"We struggled with the hole locations today. Normandy Shores tests a player's ability to stay on the proper side of the pin and if you miss on the short side, you pay the price," Eastern Florida State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell said.

Campbell Kennedy shot a 69 in the final round, shooting two under on the back nine. Teammate Nick Miller shot a 76 in the final round and tied with Kennedy for 40th place overall. Adam Vermut placed in a tie for 48th after a 1-over 72 while Bryan Hernandez shot a 75 and Masen McKain finished with a 78.

Nova Southeastern won the event, shooting a 280 in the final round and an 835 for the tournament. The University of Tampa had the round of the day, shooting a 269 to jump into a tie for third overall.

"A good round by Campbell today and plenty of positives to take away but we still need to clean up the basics," Howell said.

The Titans will prepare for the NJCAA Southeast District Championships in Foley Alabama beginning April 22.
