Men's golf team finishes in third place at Lioneer Invitational

The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team finished third at the Lioneer Invitational Tuesday.

The Titans shot a 296 in the final round and finished behind Mississippi Gulf Coast and Central Alabama. Eastern Florida State College finished the tournament 19-over 587.

Bryan Hernandez finished the tournament tied for fifth overall at 2-over par 144 after shooting a 75 in the final round. Teammate Campbell Kennedy shot a 72 and finished tied for ninth at 3-over for the tournament.

Adam Vermut tied for 12th overall after shooting a 74, finishing 5-over for the tournament. Nick Miller is tied for 17th and Hugo Griesheimer was tied for 23rd.  Masen McKain shot a 75 and tied for 28th overall.

"We just need to play better, simple as that. We show signs of good play only to run into poor stretches," Eastern Florida State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell said.

Central Alabama's Gunnar Green shot 2-under to win the tournament.

The men's golf team will compete in the Glenlakes Invitational March 11 and 12.
