Men's golf team in fourth at Titan Winter Invitational

The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team is in fourth place after two rounds at the Titan Winter Invitational Monday at Suntree Country Club.

The Titans shot the second-best score of the second round to move into fourth place overall. Eastern Florida State College shot a 293 in the afternoon, rebounding from a tough first round.

Campbell Kennedy birdied the 18th hole to finish the afternoon round with a 2-under 70. He is in fourth place overall at 1-under 143.

Teammate Masen McKain shot a 1-over 73 and Bryan Hernandez finished with a 2-over 74. Adam Vermut shot a 76 and Nick Miller had a 79.

In the first round, the Titans shot a 306 but finished the round strong after a slow start.

Masena McKain had a rough first four holes but settled down and shot 2-under on the back nine to finish the day with an 83. Teammate Adam Vermut also started slowly but finished with eight pars on the back nine to finish the first round with a 77.  Campbell Kennedy made the turn at 4-over but shot a 3-under on the back nine to finish with a 73 as did Nick Miller.

Miller is tied for 15th overall while Vermut is tied for 22nd.

Central Alabama is leading the tournament, shooting a 286 in the second round and heads into the final round with a six-stroke lead at 590. Southeastern University is in second place at 596 with Webber International at 597.

The second EFSC team is in sixth place, led by the dup of Adam Ward and Jamie Chepenik who are tied for 15th at 8-over for the tournament.

The final round of the Titan Winter Invitational will be on Tuesday morning with teams teeing off at 8:15 a.m. at Suntree Country Club.
