Men's golf team places fifth at Jefferson State Fall Invitational

The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team moved up to fifth in the final round of the Jefferson State Fall Invitational.

The Titans shot one of the best rounds of the day, shooting a 289 to finish fifth at Musgrove Country Club in Jasper, Alabama.

Sophomore Adam Vermut rebounded from a slow start, firing 4-under on the back nine to shoot a 70 and finished 10th overall with a 145.

Teammate Bryan Hernandez finished 19th overall after firing a 71 in the final round. Hernandez was 1-under after nine holes but slipped a bit in the back nine.

Nick Miller shot a 72 on Tuesday and moved up into 35th overall while teammate Jamie Chepenik shot a 76 and was 29th overall. Malik Laghjichi shot an 80 and finished 73rd.

"Better today but still way too many unforced errors and missed opportunities," Eastern Florida State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "Good comebacks today by Vermut, Hernandez and Miller but plenty of work ahead of us."

Hugo Griesheimer shot a 74 as an individual.

The tournament was the final Fall event for the men's golf team.
