Men's golf team leads at Dan York Memorial

The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team is in first place after the first two rounds at the Dan York Memorial Tournament in Cullman, Alabama.

The Titans shot a 284 in the first round which was one of the best rounds the program had all of last season and then followed that up with a 289 and are leading host Wallace State and Central Alabama by six strokes at Cross Creek Golf Course.

Freshman Masen McKain opened with a 3-under 69 in the first round and then shot a 73 in the second round and is in seventh place.

Teammates and sophomores Adam Vermut and Nicholas Miller each had rounds of 71 and 72 and are tied for eighth heading into the final round. Teammate Bryan Hernandez had rounds of 72 and 73 while freshman Jamie Chepenik shot 72 and 75 in his first two collegiate rounds.

The team will play the final round of the tournament on Tuesday morning.
