Men's golf team places second at Coastal Alabama Invitational

The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team placed second in the Coastal Alabama Invitational at Timber Creek Golf Club in Point Clear, Alabama.

The Titans shot a final round 296 to finish four strokes behind Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Jefferson State Community College finished third and Wallace State Community College was fourth in the tournament.

"It was a tough day to play with winds blowing 15-20 mph over the final 12 holes," Eastern Florida State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "We just need to save a few more shots. I was encouraged by the end of the round today as everyone hung in there."

Freshman Adam Vermut shot a 2-over 74 in the final round to win the individual title with a 2-under 142 for the tournament. It was his first individual win of the spring season.

Jefferson State's Trey Rouse and Mississippi Gulf Coast's Alessio Graziani tied for second place one stroke behind Vermut.

Brandon Boncore finished in sixth place overall, shooting a 76 in the second round and finished 2-over for the tournament. Teammate Nicholas Miller tied for 12th overall with a 75 on Tuesday. Robert Greninger rebounded after a tough first round, shooting a 71 to place tied for 15th overall.

Pontus Torgner finished his first tournament of the spring with an 82.
