Men's golf team in sixth place at McDonough Cup

The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team is in sixth place after two rounds of the McDonough Cup at Rio Pinar Country Club in Orlando.

The Titans shot rounds of 297 and 286 and are one stroke behind LeMoyne College for fifth and six away from third. Rollins College leads the event, shooting 9-under 567.

Freshmen Nick Miller and Adam Vermut are tied for 16th overall at 1-over 145 after two rounds while sophomore Pontus Torgner is tied for 22nd at 3-over. Noah Campbell shot a 4-over and Brandon Boncore is at 6-over for the tournament.

"A good comeback round after a slow start in round 1. Excellent second round by Nick and good bounce back by Noah," Eastern Florida State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "A good start in the morning and we can make up some ground on the leaders.

The Titans will tee off at 8 a.m. with LeMoyne College and Palm Beach Atlantic.
