Men's golf team heads into second round tied for second place

The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team is tied for second after the first round of the Florida Tech Panther Invitational Sunday at Duran Golf Club.

The Titans shot a 3-over 291 in the first round and are tied with Keiser University and five strokes behind leader Barry University.

Sophomore Thomas Matthews shot a 1-under 71 rebounding from a slow start to make five birdies in the first round. Teammates Drew Lanier and Sean McGinty are tied for ninth place after shooting 1-over.

Ryan McMillan is tied for 16th after shooting a 74 and Ben Ramos shot a 78.

The Titans will tee off at 9:12 a.m. in the second round of the invitational as teams will begin on Hole No. 10.
