Men's golf team in third at Coastal Alabama Invitational

The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team is in third place after the first round of the Coastal Alabama Invitational in Fairhope, Alabama.

The Titans shot a 295 in the first round and are three strokes behind leaders Jefferson State Community College heading into the final round on Tuesday.

Sophomore Tom Matthews shot a 1-under 71 in the round and is in third place individually while Ryan McMillan is tied for seventh after shooting 1-over 73 and Sean McGinty is tied for 10th at 2-over. Drew Lanier shot a 77 while Ben Ramos finished with a 79.

"Another solid round by Tom Matthews and better play by (Ryan) McMillan and (Sean) McGinty," Eastern Florida State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "The team is showing signs of coming around. Tomorrow will be a good test for all."

The 295 is the best round of the spring for the Titans.
