Men's golf team in second place at Titan Winter Invitational

The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team shot a 291 in the second round to sit in second place after two rounds at the Titan Winter Invitational at Suntree Country Club Monday.

The Titans shot a 299 in the first round but as the weather warmed up, so did the team as they shot the best round of the second half and second-best score of the day to move into second place behind Keiser University.

Sophomore Thomas Matthews shot a 2-under 71 in the second round and is tied for fifth place overall. Teammate Sean McGinty is in 10th place after a 72 in the second round and is 3-over for the tournament. Ryan McMillan and Josh Yang are tied for 15th while Josh Stern is tied for 22nd and Pontus Torgner is tied for 51st. Ben Ramos is in 11th place playing as an individual.

Keiser University shot a 290 in the first round and then a 294 to lead at 584. The Titans head into the final round six strokes back at 590. Bethune-Cookman University's Marcus Sundlof is leading the tournament, shooting a 69 in the second round and is at 3-under for the tournament.

Southeastern University is third at 591 and Embry-Riddle is fourth at 592 setting up a final round beginning at 8:15 am. on Tuesday morning that could be very competitive at Suntree Country Club.
