Men's golf team set to host Titan Winter Invitational

The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team is hosting the 18th annual Titan Winter Invitational Monday and Tuesday at Suntree Country Club.

15 teams are scheduled to play in the tournament, teeing off at 8 a.m. on Monday for 36 holes and then wrap up Tuesday with the final 18 holes beginning at 8 a.m.

"It will be a good two days of golf. It's a good test for everybody. Suntree is a marvelous test, a good golf course from the first tee shot to the last putt," Eastern Florida State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell said.

The Titans are the defending champions of the event and have won eight times in the 17 years. This year's team finished the fall season strong with a win and a second-place finish and head into the spring with high expectations. Ben Ramos returns after placing second in last year's invitational while Thomas Matthews and Sean McGinty tied for seventh.

Eastern Florida State College comes into the season with a lot of experience with six sophomores on this year's team and will play five tournaments this spring before the JCAA District 4 Championship in April.
