Howell to be guest speaker at PGA Merchandise Show Thursday

Eastern Florida State College golf coach Jamie Howell will be a guest speaker at the 2020 PGA Merchandise Show at the Orange County Convention Center on Thursday.

The PGA Merchandise Show is one of the golf industry's leading trade-only events for PGA Professionals and golf industry professionals to see the latest trends in golf equipment and technology, apparel and accessories.

Howell, who is in his 18th season as the golf coach at Eastern Florida State College, will be one of the speakers in two seminars hosted by the Golf Coaches Association of America and the PGA on Thursday during the merchandise show.

The first will be at 11 a.m. at the PGA Business Center with golf professionals and the industry about how college coaching works. Then at 3 p.m. on the PGA Forum Stage on the main floor of the PGA Merchandise Show Howell will join University of Wisconsin coach and WGCA President Todd Oehrlein, University of Florida women's coach Emily Bastel Glaser, Texas Tech head coach Greg Sands and St. Johns Fisher head coach Bob Simms to answer questions from Golf Channel's Charlie Rymer who will be the moderator as well as an open Q&A.

"I am just tickled to be asked," said Howell who is the 2019 Labron Harris Sr. award winner. "I thanked GCAA CEO Greg Grost again on the phone this week because just to include junior colleges in this is great, I get to represent the NJCAA and talk about junior college golf and I appreciate that opportunity more than they know."

Members of the Eastern Florida State College men and women's golf teams will be at the show for the afternoon seminar.

Howell has also been on the PGA of America Radio Show on Sirius/XM Radio talking about the program and winning the Labron Harris Sr Award.
