Men's golf team leads District 4 Championship after two rounds

The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team is in first place after two rounds of the District 4 Championship in Marion, Illinois.

After shooting a 296 in the first round at The Links at Kokopelli, the Titans shot a 301 in the afternoon to lead the tournament with a 597 after two rounds. Central Alabama is in second place at 606 and Calhoun, who led after the first round, is in third at 608.

Beck Fox and Thomas Matthews are tied for third place at 145 after two rounds. Fox shot a 73 and 72 while Matthews shot a 74 and a 71.

Teammate Josh Stern shot a pair of 76s and is tied for ninth at 152 while Ben Ramos is tied for 16th at 155. Josh Yang is at 163 after two rounds.

"The course is playing difficult in windy conditions, especially in the afternoon round," Eastern Florida State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "We will need to be more balanced tomorrow to finish up front."

The final round of the tournament will be on Tuesday and the top teams will advance to the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament at Duran Golf Club May 14-17 in Viera.
