Men's golf team prepared for Florida Tech Invitational

The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team will battle some of the best teams in NCAA Division I men's golf in the Florida Tech Invitational at Duran Golf Club beginning Sunday.

The Titans, who are fourth in the latest NJCAA Division I men's golf rankings, are coming off a fourth-place finish at the Coastal Alabama Spring Invitational as Thomas Matthews and Beck Fox each finished in the top seven individually.

Barry University comes into the tournament as one of the favorites as the Buccaneers are the No. 1 team in the country in NCAA Division II men's golf. The host Florida Tech is currently ranked fourth in the nation.

"To have the opportunity to compete in the same field as Barry as well as Florida Tech hosting on their home course is an excellent opportunity for our team to get a taste of NCAA tournament golf," Eastern Florida State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell said.

Teams will play 18 holes each day beginning at 7:30 a.m. at Duran Golf Club beginning with the first round on Sunday and the final round is scheduled for Tuesday.
