Men's golf team leads after two rounds at Titan Invitational

The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team opened the spring season in grand fashion at the Titan Invitational at Suntree Country Club on Monday. 

The Titans posted a morning round of 3-under and then shooting 1-over as a team in the afternoon and are leading the 14-team tournament by 10 strokes over Central Alabama heading into the final round Tuesday morning.

Sophomore Beck Fox is two strokes behind Central Alabama's Caleb O'Toole for the top spot. Fox opened the tournament with a 3-under 69 and then shot even par in the afternoon round. O'Toole enters the final round at 5-under.

Teammates Ben Ramos and Sean McGinty are tied for fourth place overall at even par. McGinty posted the best score of the afternoon, shooting a 3-under 69 after a 75 in the morning round. Tom Matthews sits tied for 10th at 3-over.

"We had good solid play by all today. Good balance from all five with good steady play by Fox and Ramos and a very good afternoon round by McGinty," Eastern Florida State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell said. We will need to do the same tomorrow."

The University of Tampa and Southeastern University are tied for third place heading into the final round which begins at 8 a.m. at Suntree Country Club.
