Men's golf team hosts National Preview event at Duran

The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team will be tested this week as they are hosting the National Preview on Monday and Tuesday at Duran Golf Club in Viera.

The tournament, who are hosting the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament in the spring, will have five of the top 10 teams in the nation competing including the Titans who come off a win at the NJCAA District Preview.

"It is a good field, very competitive," Eastern Florida State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "The wind has been blowing and Duran has been playing difficult this week, but we have had a good look at it."

The Titans will have two teams in the tournament and will tee off at 8 a.m. in the first of two rounds on Monday.

"Third tournament and third different lineup. Tom Matthews has been rock solid, Josh Stern has been solid, Beck Fox has been qualifying well but Ben Ramos stepped up to the plate for this tournament and Chandler Dixon are both making their first appearance which is a good thing," Howell said.

Thomas Matthews has led the Titans to top four finishes in both the first two tournaments as the freshman from Wales has finished in the top five in both tournaments while teammate Stern has been in the top 17 in each tournament.

The final round of the tournament will tee off Tuesday morning. All three rounds are at Duran Golf Club and fans are welcome to come and watch the tournament.
