Men's golf team places fourth in fall opener

The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team finished fourth in the first tournament of the fall season, the Wallace State Fall Invite in Cullman, Alabama.

The team shot 3-under in the final round to finish with an 861 for the three rounds. Freshman Thomas Matthews shot a 75 in the final round and finished tied for fifth overall.

Freshmen Ryan McMillan shot a 70 to finish tied for 13th while Josh Stern tied for 17th after a 72 in the final round. Tanner Gonzalez also shot a 72 and was 23rd while Beck Fox finished tied for 24th with a 73 in the final round.

"I thought we had a good balance from the team overall, we just need to keep getting better at the little parts of the game," Eastern Florida State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell said.

The men's golf team will compete in the NJCAA District 4 Preview Sept. 24-25 in Marion, IL.
