Men's golf team in fourth after two rounds in Alabama

The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team opened the fall season Monday with a couple of solid rounds at the Wallace State Fall Invite in Cullman, Alabama.

The Titans were led by freshman Thomas Matthews, who made his Titans debut with a couple of sub-par rounds. The Wales native opened with a 67 and then came back in the afternoon with a 69.

The rest of the Titans struggled in the morning session, shooting 292 as a team but came back in the afternoon with a solid round of 282 and are in fourth place heading in to the final round on Tuesday. Freshman Josh Stern shot a 146 with rounds of 72 and 74 while Ryan McMillan is at 147 while Beck Fox and Tanner Gonzalez each shot 149.

"We were sloppy in the morning session but had much better play in the afternoon," Eastern Florida State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "Well played by Tom Matthews and good comebacks from Fox, McMillan and Gonzalez. We will need to be more efficient tomorrow."
