Men's golf team places seventh at Battle at the Shores event

The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team finished strong at The Battle at the Shores, placing seventh among NCAA Division II teams.

The Titans shot 2-under on the back nine of Normandy Shores Golf Club as a team to finish the round at 292 and the three rounds at 875.

Sophomore Fraser Davren led the way, finishing with four birdies and shot a 2-under 69 in the final round to place tied for 12th overall. Ryan Rozic and Kyle Decenzo each shot under par in the final nine holes to help the Titans finish strong.

"It was a good, solid back nine by the guys. Good event for Fraser and a good comeback round for Ryan Rozic today," Eastern Florida State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "It's been a good, long track since the tournament in Alabama. Spring break comes at the right time for us."

Teammate Beck Fox struggled a bit in the final round with a 76 but finished tied for 25th in the tournament.

Florida Southern picked up the win, finishing the three-round tournament 13-under 839. Lynn University came in second place by one stroke.

The Titans will host the NJCAA District 4 Championship April 23-24 at Duran Golf Club. The winner of the tournament will advance to the NJCAA National Championship Tournament in Lubbock, Texas in May.
