Titan Men Finish Second in Georgia
Eastern Florida's men's golf team couldn't make up Monday's 12-stroke deficit and finished second after Tuesday's final round of the Doublegate Invitational at Darton State College in Albany, Georgia.
Eastern Florida finished at 301-291-295=887 to 295-285-298=878 for first-place Darton.
Wallace State of Alabama shot 302-299-295=896 to finish third in the 11-team field.
Bradley Bawden shot 73-71-75=219 to tie for fourth with teammate Corey Herman who carded 78-71-70=219.
Kerry Sweeney shot 73-76-75=224; Michael Keymont 78-73-76=227; and Tyler Bennett 77-76-75=228.
"It was a good comeback by Corey Herman in rounds two and three," said Eastern Florida head coach Jamie Howell. "Overall we were not sharp and spotted Darton with too big of a cushion on their home course.
"We have a quick turn around this week as we play Florida Tech's home event this coming Monday and Tuesday."
The finish was the second, second-place effort this spring season for the Titans who were runner-up in their season-opening Titan Winter Invitational.
