Titans Second After First Day of Darton Tournament

Eastern Florida's golf team struggled in Monday's 36-hole first round of the Doublegate Invitational at Darton State College in Albany, Georgia.

Eastern Florida shot 301-291 = 592 to trail leader Darton (295-285 = 580) by 12 strokes.

Wallace State of Alabama is third among the 11 teams after carding 302-299 = 601.

Individually for Eastern Florida Brad Bawden shot 73-71 = 144; Kerry Sweeney 73-76 = 149; Corey Herman 78-71 = 149; Michael Keymont 78-73 = 151; and Tyler Bennett 77-76 = 153.

"Brad played well all day," said Eastern Florida head coach Jamie Howell. "Everyone had some struggles on the greens and we made too many unforced errors. Nice comebacks by Herman and Keymont and we will need a big push tomorrow if we are to catch Darton."

The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Tuesday.
