Titan Men Ranked Second in National Golf Poll

Eastern Florida's men's golf team is ranked No. 2 nationally in the latest Bushnell Golfweek NJCAA Division I Coaches Poll.

Defending men's national champion Indian Hills Community College claimed four first-place votes to take sole possession of the top ranking. The Warriors ended the fall tied with Odessa College at No. 1.

Eastern Florida received the lone remaining first-place vote. Midland climbed two spots to No. 3 and was followed by Odessa and McLennan. Dodge City and Iowa Western tied for sixth. Wallace State checked in at No. 8. Western Texas and Hutchinson, who re-entered the poll after a one-ranking absence, tied at No. 9.

Darton State dropped from the top 10.

Next up for the Titans is Darton's Doublegate Invitational Feb. 29-March 1 in Albany, Georgia.

The Titans finished second in their season-opening Titan Winter Invitational on Feb. 8-9.

"It's always an honor to be recognized in our respective polls," said Eastern Florida head coach Jamie Howell. "At the same time a poll is a reflection of what has taken place in the past. Our current poll reminds us of a second place finish at our opening event of spring and someone finished in front of us.

"It's much too early to begin reading our name in the polling world and at the same time if we don't take care of our business we will spend too much time thinking about the past. Darton State is next on our schedule and we are in the process of finishing qualifying this week to determine which five players will represent EFSC next Monday and Tuesday at their event."

The Titans are seeking their 14th straight national tournament appearance. They recorded their best finish in their last 13 tournaments by finishing second last spring.
