Eastern Florida Men Lead Central Alabama Invitational

Eastern Florida Men Lead Central Alabama Invitational

Fighting through rain, cool temperatures and three players with food poisoning Eastern Florida's men's golf team managed to take the lead in the first day of the Central Alabama Fall Invitational on Monday.

Play at Willow Point in Alexander City, Alabama was reduced from 36 to 18 holes due to weather and will conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday.

Eastern Florida leads Darton State College 307-308.

Individually for the Titans Michael Keymont shot 75, Corey Herman 77, Michael Stewart 77 and Kerry Sweeney 78.

"Playing only four players and not having the ability to throw out a high score, the guys did an awesome job not only in the conditions but also fighting through an adverse situation health wise," said Eastern Florida head coach Jamie Howell.

"Might be a timely shortening of the event for our sake. The golf course played long and was reasonably difficult. Conditions were difficult at best since there is standing water on every fairway."

The event concludes Eastern Florida's fall season.
