Men's basketball team picks up conference win at Polk State College

The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team won their third game in a row Saturday afternoon, picking up a conference road win.

The Titans, who are ranked 24th in the national poll, finished with a 17-5 run to defeat Polk State College 82-70 in Winter Haven to improve to 18-3 overall and 7-1 in the conference.

Corey Caulker got hot about midway through the first half, hitting four 3-pointers and helped the Titans head to halftime with a 44-36 lead. The Titans hit eight 3-pointers in the first half.

Polk State College came out of the locker room on a 10-0 run and took a 46-44 lead before Caulker ended it with a 3-pointer.

The game would remain tight for much of the second half as the lead would change eight times over a 14 minute span.

But trailing 65-63, Fredy-Salam Sylla hit a jumper to tie the game and then hit a 3-pointer to give the Tiatns a 68-65 lead. He would hit another one to make it 71-65 and the Titans hit shots down the stretch to pick up the victory.

Caulker finished with a season-high 28 points while Sylla had 18, Chandler Watts finished with 11 and Emondrek Erkins-Ford added 10 for the Titans.

Eastern Florida State College will be back home on Wednesday night for a big Citrus Conference game against Florida Southwestern State College. The game will begin around 7:30 p.m. after the women's game that starts at 5:30 p.m. at Titan Field House.
