Men's basketball team defeats Florida Southwestern on the road

The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team jumped out to a fast start and defeated Florida Southwestern in a Citrus Conference game Wednesday night.

The No. 14 ranked Titans defeated No. 21 Florida Southwestern 81-66 to pick up win No. 20 this season. It is the 11th time in the past 12 seasons that the Titans have reached 20 wins in a season. Eastern Florida State College is now 8-1 in the conference and are tied with Daytona State College for first place.

The Titans scored the first 12 points in the game as Luca Colceag hit two early 3-pointers and the lead reached 17-1 on a Matus Malovec 3-pointer. An AJ Walker 3-pointer extended the lead to 31-9.

It would remain a 20-plus point lead throughout the first half and led 46-24 at halftime behind Colceag and Owen Aquino each had eight points in the first half.

Florida Southeastern would cut the lead to as much as 15 but the Titans continued to hit shots in the second half as Owen Aquino had a big second half.

Aquino came close to having a triple double, scoring a team-high 19 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and had six assists in the win. Colceag had 16 points and seven rebounds and Matija Zuzic finished with 13 points and six rebounds.

Jaeshon Thomas had 23 points for Florida Southwestern.

Eastern Florida State College will host St. Petersburg College on Saturday at 4 p.m. Saturday's game at Titan Field House will be live on WEFS-TV, which is channel 9 or 455 on Spectrum, 68 on DirecTV, 30 on Dish and 68 on AT&T Uverse. Admission to Titan Field House is free.
