Men's basketball top Santa Fe in conference shootout

The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team used a big second half to defeat Santa Fe in a Citrus Conference game Saturday.

The No. 23 ranked Titans improved to 2-1 in the conference and 14-3 overall after the 92-79 victory on the road.

The first half saw the teams trade the lead several times early on as Santa Fe hit nine 3-pointers and led by as much as seven points, but AJ Walker hit some big shots down the stretch, including a 3-pointer with 23 seconds left to send the Titans to the locker room with a two-point lead, 45-43.

Andrija Bukumirovic got things going early in the second half, scoring nine points in the first five minutes of the second half as the Titans jumped out to a 56-50 lead. Santa Fe would make another run to take the lead one final time with 12:15 remaining.

Luca Colceag gave the Titans the lead for good hitting two of three free throws and then hit a 3-pointer and the Titans would lead the rest of the way.

 Bukumirovic led all scorers with 21 points in the game, 14 coming in the second half. Teammates AJ Walker and Owen Aquino each finished with 18 points. It is the fourth straight game that Aquino has scored at least 16 points.

Karmello Branch led the Saints with 18 points.

Eastern Florida State College will host Indian River State College Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in a Citrus Conference matchup. Admission to Titan Field House is free and the game will be shown live online at EFSC Titans YouTube page.
