Men's basketball rallies past FSC-Jacksonville

The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team used a big second half to defeat Florida State College at Jacksonville Wednesday on the road.

The No. 19 ranked Titans outscored the Blue Wave 52-28 in the second half to improve to 12-2 with the 80-76 victory.

Down 48-28 at halftime, sophomore Owen Aquino propelled the Titans back into the contest. The Madrid, Spain native scored 24 of his team-high 29 points in the second half.

The Titans went on a 16-1 run in a matter of five minutes, tying the game 60-60 with nine minutes, 39 seconds remaining. AJ Walker's basket gave the Titans the lead for the first time and one last 9-0 run late in the half gave the Titans a nine-point lead. It would reach as high as 10 before the Florida State College at Jacksonville would cut it to within three once again in the 20 seconds. Walker would make three of his four free throws to ice the game.

The 29 points is a career high for Aquino who has scored at least 10 points in 10 of the 13 games he has played in this season. Walker finished with 15 points and Andrija Bukumirovic had 12 in the win.

Tarence Guinyard had 18 of his 27 points in the first half for the Blue Wave while teammate Aiden Fletcher finished with 16.

Eastern Florida State College will open the Citrus Conference season on Saturday afternoon at Titan Field House. The Titans will host Florida Southwestern at 4 p.m. and admission is free. You can also watch the game live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
