Men's basketball team opens season with a victory

The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team opened the regular season with a victory Wednesday night at Titan Field House.

The Titans defeated Palm Beach State College 94-61 to win the home opener for the fourth consecutive season.

The game was close throughout the first 13 minutes of the first half, but the Titans would finish the first half on a 23-9 run to lead 41-25 at halftime. Owen Aquino finished with 16 points in the first half and had a team-high 20 in the game.

The Titans would continue the hot shooting in the second half as they would outscore Palm Beach State College 13-4 in the first three minutes highlighted by 3-pointers by Matija Zuzic, Luca Colceag and Carlos Cortijo.

From there the Titans would cruise to victory in front of a energetic crowd at Titan Field House. They would finish with 11 3-pointers in the game which 

Zuzic finished with 16 points and Emondrek Erkins-Ford had 14 as six EFSC players had at least 10 points in the game.

Will Stallworth had 16 points for Palm Beach State College.

The Titans will host the Jim Grimes Classic on Friday and Saturday at Titan Field House. The games will begin at 5 p.m. Friday with the Florida State College at Jacksonville playing East Georgia State College. The Titans will take the court at 7 p.m. against Time to Ball Prep.

On Saturday, the Florida State College at Jacksonville will play Time to Ball Prep at 2 p.m. with the Titans playing East Georgia State College at 4 p.m.
