Men's basketball team drops FSC-Jacksonville on Sophomore Day

The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team wrapped up the regular season with a Central Conference win against the Florida State College at Jacksonville Saturday.

The Titans finished the regular season 21-9 overall and 11-4 in the conference and advanced to the Region VIII Tournament beginning March 9.

On Saturday, the Titans built a double-digit lead halfway through the first half as Jaden Witter-Watts hit a 3-pointer and then Carlin Gelin scored a basket and EFSC led 22-11.

Augustin Kingombe had 11 of his team-high 18 points in the first half. It was a season-high for the freshman from Jacksonville.

Up nine at halftime, the Titans would stretch it to 19 in the second half as Witter-Watts, Matija Zuzic and Eric Parnell hit back-to-back-to-back 3-pointers and then Zuzic hit a basket and the Titans led 65-46.

With EFSC up 20, Florida State College at Jacksonville went on a 9-0 run to cut the lead back to 11 points. It would remain right around a 10-point game the rest of the way.

Zuzic finished with 16 points and has finished the regular season with two big games for the Titans. Parnell scored 13 points, Witter-Watts had 12 points and Owen Aquino finished with 11 points in the win.

Sophomores Andres Burney and Cameron Wickline were both honored after they played their final games at Titan Field House. Burney finished with eight points and 12 rebounds while Wickline had two points and two rebounds. 

Eastern Florida State College will host Central Pointe Academy on March 4 in a scrimmage before heading to Niceville for the Region VIII Tournament beginning March 9.
