Men's basketball team falls to Daytona State College on the road

The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team lost to Daytona State College in a Central Conference game Wednesday night on the road.

The Titans fell to 17-6 overall and are now tied with Daytona State College for first place at 7-1 in the conference. Daytona State College evened the season series 1-1 with the 91-77 win.

Eastern Florida State College fell behind early as Daytona State College came out shooting right from the start.

Down by double digits throughout much of the game, Andres Burney cut the Titans lead to under 20 in the second half, taking over inside. The sophomore forward finished with a team-high 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the loss.

Teammates Caleb Byrd and Eric Parnell scored 18 and 17 points respectively.

Daytona State College's Jacob Crews and Ky Stattmann each had 22 points while Josue Grullon-German had 20 points as the Falcons made 15 3-pointers in the game.

The loss snapped an eight-game win streak for the Titans.

Eastern Florida State College will be back at Titan Field House Saturday afternoon against St. Petersburg College at 4 p.m. in a Central Conference matchup that will be shown on WEFS-TV, which is channel 9 or 455 on Spectrum, 68 on DirecTV, 30 on Dish and 68 on AT&T Uverse.
