Men's basketball team is at Daytona State College Wednesday for key conference game

The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team will travel to Daytona State College for a key Central Conference game between the top two teams in the conference on Wednesday night.

The 20th-ranked Titans, who are 7-0 in the conference, will play No. 15 Daytona State College who have also come into the matchup on a four-game win streak and are 6-1 in the conference. The Titans took the first matchup 69-67. In that game, Brandon Garcia hit a key 3-pointer with 23 seconds remaining to clinch the win.

The game will feature the top two scorers in the state as Caleb Byrd comes in leading Region 8 in scoring while Daytona State College's Jacob Crews is averaging 20.7 points per game.

Byrd is coming off a 26-point performance against Santa Fe and is averaging 23.5 points per game this season. Teammate Andres Burney is averaging 16.5 points and 9.8 rebounds in 22 games this season.

Crews comes into the meeting scoring 20.7 points per game this season. Teammate Josue Grullon-German is averaging 15.7 points while Ky Stattmann averages 11.7 points and Kezza Giffa is averaging 10.8 points. Giffa is the Region 8 Player of the Week, averaging 23 points per game in the two wins last week.

Wednesday night's game will tip off at 7:30 p.m. in Daytona and will be shown live locally on WDSC-TV.
