Men's basketball team hosts Polk State in conference matchup Wednesday

The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team will host Polk State College in a Central Conference matchup Wednesday night at Titan Field House.

The Titans, who are ranked No. 24 in the latest NJCAA Division I poll, are leading the conference with a 5-0 record while Polk State comes into the matchup 2-3 in the conference. Eastern Florida State College is riding a six-game winning streak and won the first meeting at Polk State College 81-76.

Polk State College is coming off a victory Saturday against St. Petersburg and is led by the guard duo of Rod Jones and George Pridgett. Jones had 22 in the first meeting and is averaging 11.9 points per game while Pridgett is scoring 18.4 points per game.

Eastern Florida State College is led by Caleb Byrd returned from injury and scored 24 points at Florida State College at Jacksonville and the guard is leading the state in scoring, averaging 23.7 points per game this season. Teammate Andres Burney is tied for second in the state in rebounding, averaging 9.8 per game. For the season the forward is averaging 16.3 points per game.
