EFSC hosting 21st annual JUCO Shootout this weekend

Eight junior college men's basketball teams will be at Titan Field House this weekend for the 21st annual JUCO Shootout.

Six of the eight teams come into the weekend on winning streaks and two of the teams are ranked in the top seven in the latest NJCAA Division I poll.

Chipola College comes into the tournament 13-0 and tied for third in the national poll and will open the weekend at 5 p.m. Saturday against St. Petersburg College.

Tallahassee Community College is 10-1 and ranked seventh. The Eagles have won nine straight heading into the tournament. They will face Indian River State College who is receiving votes in the national poll and has won six straight on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

Miami Dade and Polk State College will open the tournament at noon on Saturday. Miami Dade is 8-5 on the season and has won six in a row and will play Polk State College who is 4-7.

The final game of Day 1 will see host Eastern Florida State College play Florida Southwestern at 7:30 p.m. The Titans are 9-2 on the season and have won three in a row while Florida Southwestern has won six straight and is 7-3 this season.

Some more big matchups are scheduled for Sunday as Polk State College tips off with Indian River State College at noon.

Then Chipola faces Florida Southwestern at 2:30 p.m. with St. Petersburg playing Miami Dade at 5 p.m.

The JUCO Shootout will wrap up with the Titans playing Tallahassee Community College at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

Tickets for the JUCO Shootout at Eastern Florida State College will be $10 per day or $15 for the weekend and can be purchased in advance online or with cash at the door. Games will also be streamed live online with the Dan Patrick School of Broadcast at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
