Men's basketball team defeats Daytona State College

The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team jumped out to a fast start and picked up a big Central Conference win Saturday at Daytona State College.

The Titans improved to 21-8 overall and 11-3 in the conference with the 76-59 victory on Saturday.

Second-year freshman Vlad Salaridze scored a career-high 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Salaridze scored 11 in the first half as he helped the Titans take a 10-point lead into halftime.

Up 49-35 in the second half, Daytona State College rallied back with a 13-5 run to cut the lead to six with 10:50 remaining.

But the Titans responded with a 13-0 run that gave Eastern Florida State College the eventual win.

Roberts Berze finished with 14 points while Justin Reid had 10 points and grabbed six rebounds. Lovre Zaja hit three 3-pointers and had five rebounds in the win.

Eastern Florida State College will wrap up the regular season at home Tuesday night against St. Petersburg College. Eastern Florida State College comes into Tuesday's game tied with Santa Fe for the conference lead.

The game will tip off after the women's game, around 7:30 p.m. and the sophomores will be honored after the game. The conference game will be broadcast live on WEFS-TV.
