Men's basketball team hosts Santa Fe in key conference matchup

The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team will host Santa Fe in a key Central Conference game Wednesday night at Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus.

The Titans are in first place in the conference after their win over Polk State College on Saturday and a win against Santa Fe Wednesday will solidify their spot atop the standings.

Eastern Florida State College comes into the matchup on a four-game win streak and are 20-7 overall and 10-2 in the conference.

Santa Fe College comes into the matchup 21-5 overall and 9-3 in the conference and have won eight of the past nine games.

The two teams have split the first two meetings with the Titans winning in overtime in the first meeting behind Brody Boyer's game-winning shot at Titan Field House. Then in late January, the Saints beat the Titans to even the season series.

Bradley Douglas comes into the contest averaging 19 points per game the past five games and is averaging 15.6 points and grabbing 5.2 rebounds per game this season while teammate Hasan Abdul-Hakim is putting up 12.1 points per game.

Eastern Florida State College has one of the top defenses in the country, allowing 62.6 points per game which is 13th in the country. They have only allowed one team to reach 60 points during the four-game win streak, that was Polk State College who scored 66 in a 73-66 Titans win.

Wednesday night's game will tip off at 7:30 p.m. following the women's basketball game. Admission to Titan Field House is free and the game will be broadcast live on WEFS-TV, which is channel 9 or 455 on Spectrum, 68 on DirecTV, 30 on Dish and 68 on AT&T Uverse.
