Men's basketball team drops St. Petersburg for key conference win

The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team hit some big shots down the stretch to defeat St. Petersburg in a Central Conference game on the road Saturday.

The Titans improved to 18-7 overall and 8-2 in the conference with the 53-46 victory. Polk State College lost to Santa Fe College on Saturday which puts the Titans in a tie for first place in the conference.

After trailing 28-22 at halftime, the Titans would tie the game 44-44 with 2:20 remaining on a Brody Boyer basket. 

Reggie Hill hit a 3-pointer and was fouled to give the Titans a 47-44 lead. He would miss the free throw but grab the offensive rebound.

Hill would later hit a 3-pointer to give Eastern Florida State College a 52-46 lead and would lock up the game with a free throw.

Hill finished with a team-high 18 points, 12 coming in the second half while teammate Markus Harding finished with 11 points.

Eastern Florida State College will travel to the Florida State College at Jacksonville Thursday night for a conference game before hosting Polk State College in a battle of top teams in the conference on Saturday at 2 p.m.
