Men's basketball team hosts Santa Fe Tuesday night for state tourney berth

The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team will play for a spot in the FCSAA State Tournament Tuesday night at Titan Field House.

The game against Santa Fe College will begin at 7 p.m. and admission is free.

Santa Fe advanced to the final by defeating Daytona State College 76-72 Monday night in Daytona Beach.

It will be the fourth meeting between the two teams with the Titans leading the series 2-1 but the games have all been close with two being decided by a basket, including the last meeting Feb. 19 when Santa Fe's Josiah Tynes hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to beat the Titans.

"We are playing against an outstanding team on Tuesday night, a team that is extremely talented and very well coached," Eastern Florida State College men's basketball coach Jeremy Shulman said. "Santa Fe is playing as well as anyone right now and we look forward to the challenge."

Sophomore Jonathan Ned has averaged 19 points per game in the past three games and has had two of his better games of the season against Santa Fe, scoring 16 points in the first meeting and 19 points on Feb. 19.

The winner of Tuesday night's game at Titan Field House will advance to the FCSAA State Tournament beginning March 4 at Northwest Florida State College.
