Men's basketball team moves into second place with road win

The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team moved into second place in the Mid-Florida Conference with a road win against the Florida State College of Jacksonville Wednesday night.

The Titans improved to 3-2 in the conference and will host the College of Central Florida who lost to Santa Fe Wednesday and are 4-1 heading into Saturday's matchup at Titan Field House at 4 p.m.

On Wednesday night the Titans jumped out to an early lead as Calvin Poulina hit a 3-pointer and then Johnny Bernard hit two more to give Eastern Florida a 9-2 lead. They would extend the lead to 14-2 and then 20-5 on a Jonathan Ned 3-pointer with 9:09 left in the first half.

Leading by 18 at halftime, FSC Jacksonville got off to a strong start in the first half to cut the lead to eight points with 11 minutes left. But that was as close as they would get as the Titans held one for the win.

Bernard led the offensive attack with 15 points and six rebounds while Brian Dugazon had 14 and Osayi Osifo finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds. 

The Titans will host the College of Central Florida in a Mid-Florida Conference game Saturday at 4 p.m. Admission to games at Titan Field House are free.
