Men's basketball team to host Josh Artis Memorial Classic

The Eastern Florida State College will be back on the court Saturday evening as the Titans host the Josh Artis Memorial Classic at Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus.

The Titans enter the tournament 9-6 on the season and is 7-1 in its last eight games. Sophomore forward Osayi Osifo is averaging 10.6 points and seven rebounds per game.

The tournament will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday as the State College of Florida Manatee will play Palm Beach State College.

SCF-Manatee comes into the tournament 12-4 overall and No. 8 in the latest Region 8 state poll and have won three in a row. The Manatees are led by sophomore D'Moi Hodge who leads Region 8 in points per game, averaging 27.7 points per game.

Palm Beach State College is 8-7 on the season and the Panthers are led by point guard Nick Edwards who is averaging 15.6 points per game.

In the second game of the evening, the Titans will play Coastal Alabama-North at 6 p.m. Coastal Alabama-Monroeville is looking for their first win of the season.

The tournament will conclude on Sunday with two more games beginning at 2 p.m. with Coastal Alabama-Monroeville playing SCF-Manatee and the Titans will wrap up the tournament against Palm Beach State College at 4 p.m.

It is the fourth year of the Josh Artis Memorial Classic. Josh Artis was a former player of head coach Jeremy Shulman who lost his battle with cancer in 2016 at the age of 29. Admission is free to the tournament.
