Men's basketball team picks up first win of season

The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team picked up their first win of the season Wednesday night at Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus.

The Titans defeated TLAP Prep 83-67 to improve to 1-2 on the season.

Eastern Florida State College led by 16 points at halftime, but Sheldon Edwards had a big second half with 23 of his game-high 27 points to keep TLAP Prep in the game. But as TLAP Prep cut the lead to 10, Nick Alves stepped up with two straight baskets and went on a 7-2 run and go on to win the game.

Alves led the Titans with 18 points while Jonathan Ned and Johnny Bernard each scored 17 and Brian Dugazon finished with 12 points.

Eastern Florida State College will be back at Titan Field House Saturday afternoon against Central Pointe Post Grad. The game will tip-off at 2 p.m. and admission is free to games at Titan Field House.
