Men's basketball team faces familiar foe in quarterfinals

For the third straight season, the Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team meets South Plains in the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas.

The teams split the first two meetings, both coming in the semifinals. Today they meet in the quarterfinals.

"Third straight year in the quarterfinals and the rubber match against South Plains," Eastern Florida State College men's basketball coach Jeremy Shulman said. "Steve Greene is one of the best coaches in the country and one of the best coaches all time in junior college. He has the No. 2 team in the country and has phenomenal talent, we are excited to play them for the third time in three years."

The Titans are the No. 10 seed and made it to the quarterfinals with wins over Allegany Maryland and Seward County.

South Plains defeated Trinity Valley in the second round behind Gaige Prim and Trey Wade who each had 22 in the win. Prim comes into the game averaging 20 points and 11 rebounds per game while Wade and Jonah Antonio are averaging 13 and 12 respectively.

The No. 2 seed won the Region V title, beating both Ranger and Odessa who also play in the Elite Eight today.

Region V and Region VIII both have three teams still alive in the tournament.
