Men's basketball team faces Seward County in Sweet 16 matchup tonight

Survive and advance. It is a common refrain among basketball teams this time of year and it is exactly what the Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team did Monday night in the first round of the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas.

The Titans used a stifling defense to hold Allegany Maryland to their lowest scoring total of the season, sending the No. 23 seed home with a 61-51 win.

On Tuesday night Eastern Florida State College will face No. 7 seed Seward County who is 28-5 on the season and won the Region VI title to punch their ticket to the tournament.

Like the Titans, Seward County holds opponents to 67 points per game while the duo of Marco Morency and Isiah Small average a combined 30 points per game for the Saints who average almost 82 as a team.

Freshman Osayi Osifo tied a season-high with 13 points in the opener off the bench as eight different players scored in the win.

Eastern Florida State College will look to make the quarterfinals of the national tournament for the third straight season.

Tip-off is 9:30 p.m. EDT and fans can watch the game live online at njcaatv.com. A single broadcast is $4.99 and the championship tournament pass is $14.99.
