Men's basketball team tops Daytona State College on the road

The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team picked up a big conference road win Saturday evening, topping Daytona State College 88-80 in a Mid-Florida Conference game.

And the Titans did it with a strong defense and free-throw shooting, going 10-0 in the final three minutes at the free throw line to lock up the win.

After heading to halftime with an 11-point lead, Daytona State College came out in the second half and cut the lead to four with five minutes and 30 seconds remaining. But sophomore Jalen Warren made sure that was as close as they would get, scoring on back-to-back possessions to stretch the lead to 69-61. He followed that up with a perfect night at the free-throw line, hitting 12 of 12 and finished with a team-high 29 points.

As a team, the Titans shot 91 percent from the free-throw line. Ayo Dada finished with 17 points.

The win was the fourth straight for the Titans who are now 19-6 overall and 5-2 in the conference. The Titans and Daytona State are tied with 5-2 records while the College of Central Florida improved to 6-2 with a win against Santa Fe Saturday.

The men's basketball team will host Santa Fe on Wednesday night at 7:30 pm. and then hosts the College of Central Florida at 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Admission to games at Titan Field House is free.
