Men's basketball team plays for spot in Final Four

The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team faces the Cinderella of the tournament in the Elite Eight round on Thursday.

Like Loyola-Chicago in the NCAA Tournament, Barton Community College came in as a No. 16 seed and knocked off No. 1 Indian Hills 85-83 in overtime Tuesday to advance to the Elite Eight.

The Kansas team has averaged 85 points in their two games in the tournament and are led by Marvin Cannon who is averaging 22 points per game in the tournament for the Cougars.

The Titans are coming off an opening-round victory against Trinity Valley Community College Tuesday evening and are in the Elite Eight for the second straight season. Eastern Florida State College grabbed 45 rebounds in the game and come in as the top rebounding team in the tournament.

In the opener, four of the starting five scored at least 14 points in the 85-80 win. Michael Nuga led the attack with 18 points, while Ahmed Ali had 15 points. Jalen Warren and Silas Adheke each finished with 14 points.

Eastern Florida State College is the No. 8 seed and is 28-4 on the season.
