Men's basketball team defeats College of Central Florida

The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team took over first place in the Mid-Florida Conference with an 85-64 win over the College of Central Florida.

The Titans jumped out early, taking a 10-point lead in the first four minutes of the game and went up 21 with a basket by Jalen Warren.

Eastern Florida State College would continue adding to the lead, taking it to 30 points on a Michael Nuga basket with nine minutes left.

Warren finished off the win with four big free throws in the final minute.

"I am just so proud of our guys, I can't emphasize those words enough," Shulman said. "Our guys were dialed in, bought in. First game we weren't ready to play them, second game we wanted it but we didn't have the execution. Today we finally put it all together and I am just really proud of the guys. They executed the game plan really well and stepped up to the challenge."

Nuga led the attack with 13 points in the first half and a team-high 23 points. 

"We knew that we were 0-2 against this team and they are really well coached so we came in knowing we had to get it done," Nuga said. "I have been practicing in the gym a lot and practice makes perfect. I was feeling it earlier during the walkthrough and my shot translated into the game."

Teammate Silas Adheke had 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Warren finished with 12 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

The Titans are now 7-2 in the conference, a game ahead of College of Central Florida with three games remaining. 

Eastern Florida State College will host Florida State College at Jacksonville Saturday at 2 p.m. the game will be shown live one WEFS-TV and online at efsctitans.com/webcast.
