Men's basketball team drops Santa Fe in Mid-Florida Conference battle

With 12 minutes left in the game and the score tied 50-50, redshirt freshman Silas Adheke hit two straight 3-pointers.

From there the Titans went on a 12-2 run and defeated Santa Fe in a Mid-Florida Conference game, 91-76 Wednesday night at Titan Field House.

Adheke finished with a season-high 16 points, all in the second half as the Titans improved to 23-3 overall and 6-2 in the conference.

Ahmed Ali finished with a team-high 25 points while Michael Nuga had 20 points, 13 coming in the first half.

"Really, really proud of our guys tonight. We did not start the game the way that we wanted to start but I thought we responded tonight. I thought we really played well in the second half," Eastern Florida State College men's basketball coach Jeremy Shulman said. "Those guys were outstanding. Silas was unbelievable tonight, he carried us at times. He really stepped up when we needed him."

The win was No. 200 in head coach Jeremy Shulman's eight seasons at Eastern Florida State College.

"First and foremost I want to thank (school president) Dr. Richey and athletic director Jeff Carr, without those two I am not here. They took a chance on me as a young assistant coach and I wouldn't have had this opportunity without them," Shulman said. "This is a testament to all the great players and great coaching staffs I have had over the eight seasons here and obviously I have not scored one point or had one assist so I have been blessed with some great players and great kids that will always be a part of the Eastern Florida family."

The win gives the Titans the tiebreaker against Santa Fe and they will travel to the College of Central Florida Saturday for a first-place battle with the Patriots.
